Through his wazap group and a radio telethon on Eden FM Radio – he raised over ten thousand Rand to get this young woman through her studies.
She has since completed her studies and found a teaching position at a primary school.
That evening Simon prayed and thanked the Lord for allowing him to save This One Starfish!

The event that started the vision of this organization was when Simon was approached by a young student who is also an orphan, She was about to do her N6 in Early Childhood Development when she approached Simon after she read his book DIE DJ.
In the book, Danny was struggling after losing his father and mentor in a car accident. When life tried to drag him down, another progressive young man entered his universe and saved him, giving him the opportunity to pursue his dream of funding for the umptieth time.
She figured out that someone who can right this, must have his heart in the right place. So she approached Simon Bruinders for help.
